A BARKING dog may have stopped a thief from burgling a Gosport home.

Hampshire police say the incident happened between 10am and 4pm on Friday.

Someone had forced their way into a home in Harmen Road, but nothing was stolen as it is believed the home owner’s dog may have disturbed the suspect.

The police force has reminded people to lock away all gardening equipment or tools in a shed or garage, to keep valuable items out of view, and keep house and car keys safe.

Anyone with information regarding the attempted burglary is asked to contact the Fareham and Gosport Priority Crime office, call (023) 9289 9824.

Information can also be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
