A BURGLAR who posed as a police officer to con a 75-year-old man is being hunted by police.

The woman struck at a home in Hayling Avenue, Baffins, Portsmouth, between 3pm and 3.30pm on Monday.

The man let her in and they had a conversation. She then asked for a glass of water which he got from the kitchen. After she left the man noticed his wallet containing £250 and bank cards was missing.

Detective Sergeant Gary Cable said: ‘It is very concerning that this woman claimed to be a police officer, usually a person members of the public trust.

‘It is very important not to allow anyone you don’t know into your home without seeing proper identification.’

The woman is white, in her mid 30s with a northern accent, and has dark, bobbed hair. She wore a long coat.
