A BURGLAR has stolen a car after raiding a home in Gosport.

The thief stole a silver Renault Clio from outside a home in Ayling Close, Rowner, Gosport, before abandoning it.

The car was left in Cherque Way, near its junction with David Newbury Way, in Lee-on-the-Solent.

It was taken after a burglary at the home between 10pm on Wednesday, November 6 and 6.40am the next morning.

Keys to the car were taken in the burglary, along with a TV, laptop, handbag and mobile phone.

Detective Constable Dermot McBride of the Fareham and Gosport Priority Crime Team is the investigating officer.

He said: ‘I’d appeal to anyone with information relating to this burglary, or if you saw someone driving a silver Renault Clio in suspicious circumstances to contact me at Fareham Police station on 101.

‘The car was located after it was found abandoned on Cherque Way, close to the junction of David Newbury Way in Lee-on-the-Solent.

‘Did you see anyone near the vehicle at this time?

‘Please make sure you keep your doors and windows locked and keep valuable items in a secure place.’
