THIEVES stole a handbag from a living room while the householders were asleep upstairs.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the burglary at a house in Harrier Close, Lee-on-the-Solent.

The break-in happened between 11.30pm on Friday and 6.15am on Saturday.

The thieves stole a cream-coloured handbag from the living room before leaving the house.

A member of the public found the discarded handbag on Saturday morning in nearby Kimpton Close.

PC Sam Gee, from Fareham police station, who is investigating the burglary, said: ‘I would like to speak to anyone that was in the area at the time of this incident and who witnessed anyone suspicious or saw anyone with a cream handbag.’

Anyone with information should call PC Gee at Fareham police station on 101.
