A £2,000 mountain bike was stolen in a burglary at a student house.

Burglars also fled with a Sony SLR camera worth about £200 after breaking in to the home in Heidelberg Road, Southsea, via French doors at the back of the property.

The bike stolen in the burglary, which happened between 6pm on Saturday and 8pm on Sunday, is a black and green Norco 2011 Aline mountain bike.

Police are now appealing for a man who visited the property about a week before the burglary, asking for a man who does not live there, to come forward.

He is white, about 5ft 5in tall and in his early 20s with sandy blond hair.

The man wore a black Adidas top and black Adidas tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Constable Daisy Sharma said: ‘It could be that he has nothing to do with this incident, but we are keen to trace him so we can ascertain if there is any connection. I would urge anyone with any information about this man to come forward.’

Anyone with information should call Det Con Sharma at Fratton CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
