BURGLARS have taken more than £10,000 of jewellery after breaking in through an unlocked kitchen window.

Police are seeking information and witnesses relating to the incident which took place in Fareham Road, Portchester, last Thursday.

The break-in is believed to have happened between 2.30pm and 2.50pm, where the crooks took several items of jewellery worth about £12,000.

A witness described seeing two suspects in the area at the time.

Both were white men in their late teens to early 20s, about 6ft and slim with fair coloured hair.

One wore a short-sleeved shirt and a fluorescent yellow jacket with fluorescent stripes around the body.

The other wore a blue and white horizontal striped top.

PC Phil Hall said: ‘This a rare incident to have occurred in Portchester.

‘This occurred during the day and there would have been a number of people in the area.

‘Did you see anyone matching the descriptions provided or did you see anyone acting suspiciously at the location? Please make sure that you remain vigilant and that your homes are locked at all times.’

Anyone with information should contact Fareham police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
