THIEVES stole £2,500 and hundreds of pounds worth of jewellery in a daylight burglary.

Police are appealing for information about the burglary at a house in Herbert Road, Gosport, last Wednesday.

Between 11.40am and 3.20pm, the 62-year-old owner was in his workshop in the back garden.

Someone entered the house through an unlocked back door and searched inside.

They took £2,500 in cash and almost a dozen pieces of jewellery.

Four rings were stolen worth a combined £700 – a gold ring with a ruby, a gold ring with a stone, a silver and aquamarine ring and a gold wishbone ring.

A silver and aquamarine necklace worth £100 was also taken along with a silver necklace, silver cross and earrings.
