BURGLARS ransacked a home and stole £5,000 of jewellery and electrical goods in a raid.

Thieves broke into the house in Chichester Road, North End, while the householders were out between 7.50pm and 9.30pm on March 30.

They fled with a silver Apple laptop, two Dell laptops, one red and one pink, a pink checked Hewlett Packard netbook and a Sony Vaio laptop.

The thieves stole a BlackBerry mobile phone, a matching gold and sapphire necklace and earrings set, a white gold heart locket and chain and two Guess watches. Other items taken were a pearl and gold bracelet and earrings, a gold necklace with a rectangular Year of the Pig pendant and a Sony camera.

PC Stephen Ryan said: ‘The intruder got in through a small toilet window at the back then blocked the front door by pushing an armchair against it before searching upstairs.

‘They left via the back door into an alleyway leading to Lyndhurst Road. This was a particularly unpleasant burglary due to the extensive and messy search.’
