BURGLARS stole cash and jewellery with a sentimental value from an 85-year-woman’s home.
The victim had left her house in Collingwood Road, Southsea, with her carer for a hospital appointment when the thieves struck.
When she got back she discovered a locket containing photographs of her late husband and late daughter-in-law was missing. The locket is gold with a flower on and was on a 20in gold chain.
A navy purse containing £10 and up to £10 in change from a tin were also stolen in the burglary between 5.30pm and 6.20pm on Friday.
Detective Constable Les Leithes said: ‘We are appealing to anyone who may know the whereabouts of the stolen locket to contact us. This item is of great sentimental value.
‘We would encourage any local businesses or members of the community who are offered it for sale to contact us. We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the burglary and can help identify those involved.’
