HUNDREDS of pounds were stolen during a daylight burglary in Portsmouth.

Police are appealing for information after a property in Hawthorn Crescent, in Cosham, was broken into.

The raid took place between midday and 2.15pm on Thursday, March 3, and the 19-year-old victim came home to find a number of items had been broken and cash had been taken from the house.

PC David Calvert, from the priority crime team at Fratton police station, said: ‘The victim has been upset by this incident and I am asking for anyone who thinks they may know something to come forward.

‘The offenders may have made considerable noise when damaging items in the victim’s home, and they left a bright red Adidas jacket behind. Perhaps they were disturbed?

‘Do you know anyone who recently misplaced this kind of jacket, or went out with one and returned without one?’

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Calvert on 101, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
