A shoplifter tried to attack a Co-op worker after being caught stealing deodorant.
The man hurled abuse and threats at staff in the incident at the Co-op store in Tangier Road, Portsmouth.
A Hampshire Police spokesman said: ‘A member of staff saw the man walk to the cosmetics section and blatantly place cans of Lynx deodorant in his rucksack.
‘The member of staff challenged the man, who returned nine cans of deodorant, and was then asked to leave. The suspect became abusive, threatening the man and attempting to head butt him.
‘The suspect knocked several items to the ground and once outside, continued to hurl abuse and threats before walking off.’
Police today revelead details of the incident, which happened just before 10pm on June 23. They issued a CCTV picture of a man they want to speak to.
