POLICE have released CCTV images of two men after an attempt to steal alcohol from a shop in Southsea.

Two men went into the Southern Co-operative shop in St James’s Road at around 5.30pm on April 4.

CCTV footage showed one of the men confronting a member of staff while the other man appears to attempt to steal beer, before being stopped by a member of the public.

Hampshire Constabulary has now released this image of two men they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

Police investigator Rod Jebb said: ‘Staff do not deserve this sort of behaviour.

‘It is unpleasant both for genuine customers and staff alike so we ask the public to look at this image and put a name to these people.’

Anyone with information should call Fratton police station on 101.

Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
