THESE men are wanted for stealing £700 from a 96-year-old man in a robbery by bogus callers.

The thieves struck after speaking to the victim about some work they said they could do on the outside of his home in Hewett Road, North End, Portsmouth.

Once inside they said there was some damp on a ceiling that also needed work.

They then left without completing any work and the victim realised his wallet containing £700 cash was missing.

Now police have released this CCTV image of the suspects wanted for the burglary, which happened at about 1pm on October 13.

Detective Constable Amanda Waite said: ‘I am appealing to people to take a good look at the images to see if they recognise the two men.

‘If you think you know who they are, contact us at the earliest opportunity.’

The victim described the men who called at his house as white, aged between 40 and 60 and about 6ft tall.

One man has grey hair. The other man has white hair and was wearing a large black, white and red checked lumberjack shirt.

Anyone with information should call Det Con Waite at Fratton CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
