BENEFIT fraudster Sabrina Furner falsely claimed more than £10,000.

The 26-year-old, of Dallaway Road, Chichester, was claiming housing benefit, council tax benefit and income support on the basis that she was a lone parent, failing to declare her partner moved in in April 2010.

Furner was caught following a joint investigation between Chichester District Council and the Department for Work & Pensions. She was overpaid £9,728.46.

She appeared at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on October 9 and pleaded guilty to three charges of failing to declare a change in her circumstances. She was ordered to undertake 40 hours of community work.

The council and the DWP are seeking to recover all overpaid benefit.

The council’s 24-hour fraud hotline is 01243 534590.
