A WOMAN has been banned from contacting her own mother.

Katie Champion, 30, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to assault by beating on March 31 in Buckingham Street, Landport.

Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court heard she had been drinking when she assaulted her mother, Jennifer Champion.

Now Katie Champion has been handed a restraining order for five years with a two-month prison term suspended for 12 months. There was no lasting injury, the court heard.

Champion’s guilty plea taken into account when district judge Anthony Callaway imposed the sentence.
