POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a dog attack.

A 68-year-old man was walking north along the High Street in Selsey, near Buildbase at the junction with School Lane, when he was approached from the other direction by a couple walking two dogs.

As the couple passed him, the dog, a cream Jack Russell with brown patches, bit him on the thigh.

The victim spoke briefly to the woman who was holding the dog’s lead but they walked off without leaving any details.

It happened at midday on Tuesday, December 30. Police have just released details of the incident.

PC Andy Rawlinson said: ‘I would appeal to any witnesses who may have seen the incident or those involved.

‘I would also appeal to the woman involved to come forward and give her account of what happened.’
