DOZENS of burglary victims have been contacted after a huge haul of stolen goods was discovered.
Almost 600 pieces of jewellery, electrical goods, luggage and other personal items were found in the raid in Bognor and police suspect they belong to victims across south east Hampshire and West Sussex.
Detective Sergeant Michelle Auger from Sussex Police who is leading the operation said: ‘This has been the biggest haul of believed stolen property we have come across for some time and was discovered by some diligent and proactive enquiries by my officers.
‘Not all of the property is of a very monetary value but I’m sure most of it will have some sentimental value to the owners concerned.
‘There are too many items for us to check individually, so we’re asking people who reported burglaries in the West Sussex and south Hampshire areas since last autumn to have a look at the jewellery online and see if they recognise anything and if so, then fill in the very basic form and we’ll take it from there.’
Pictures of all the items can be found at peapod.sussex-police.co.uk
Anyone who does not have the internet and would like to view the items should call Sussex Police on 101 and quote serial 0702 of 19/3.
