POLICE are warning second-hand car buyers not to buy a Land Rover similar to the one pictured, after it was stolen from a community centre.

The green Land Rover Defender 90 TDS, registration HT06 ABU, was snatched from Hillside Young People’s Centre, Cheltenham Road, Paulsgrove.

It contained a considerable amount of equipment including tents, rucksacks, sleeping bags, walking boots, clothing and similar equipment used by participants in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

Officers are urging buyers to carry out a professional used car check, and to look out for new glass, ground down serial numbers, visible tampering and to be suspicious if the V5 logbook and service history are missing.

The car was taken overnight between Tuesday, August 23 and Wednesday, August 24. Anyone with information can contact police on 101.
