A MAN has been banned from the road and fined £450 for a string of driving offences.

Jack New, of Mayles Road, Milton, Portsmouth, admitted drink-driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.

The 26-year-old also admitted possession of cocaine, a class A drug.

He was caught driving a Ford Ka on June 4 in Highland Road. A test revealed he had 85 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, more than double the legal 35mcg limit.

Portsmouth magistrates banned him for 20 months, fined him £450 in total for the driving offences and £100 for the drugs.

He must pay £30 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs. He pleaded guilty to all four charges.
