A VAN driver who was twice over the drink-drive limit has been fined £450.

Mark Strain, 44, of Preston Road, Portsmouth, admitted drink-driving after being stopped by police as he drove a VW van in Stubbington Avenue, Portsmouth, on January 29.

A test revealed he had 71 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.

Strain was fined £450 with £95 in costs and banned from driving for 20 months when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.
