POLICE are appealing for help after a woman was followed and stopped by a man acting suspiciously.
The 20-year-old woman was walking in Northern Parade, Portsmouth just after 4.30pm on Saturday, December 3, when she felt she was being followed by a man in a silver car which drove slowly to keep pace with her.
When she turned into a side street, the man got out of the car and appeared to act as if she should know him.
Police have only just released details of the incident.
The suspect is described as mixed-race with a foreign accent, 6ft tall and short dark hair.
PC Nicola Rose said: ‘Were you passing through the area? Does the man sound like someone you know? Or was it you? Could there be an innocent explanation to what happened? Equally we would like to hear from anyone who has experienced anything similar, even if you do not think you have enough detail, we would be very keen to speak with you.’

The police are also remind women to stay safe when walking home – tell someone what time to expect you home, walk in groups where possible, consider an attack alarm, carry a mobile phone but not on show, and stick to well lit areas.
