A DRIVER stopped by police for holding a mobile phone at the wheel told officers he was praying at the time.

The man, in his 30s, was pulled over on the A27 near Portsmouth after driving with a silver iPhone in his hand. He told officers: ‘Not going to believe this but I was actually praying.’

Police breathalysed him for alcohol and the test was negative. Due to other mitigating circumstances not disclosed, a police spokesman said the driver was given advice.
