SHOPLIFTER Ben Chidgey has been ordered to get help for his drug problem.

Chidgey was caught stealing sandwiches worth £3.85 from the Greggs store at The Savoy Buildings in West Street, Fareham.

Chidgey, from Inverness Way, Gosport, pleaded guilty to theft and failing to comply with a community order at Fareham Magistrates’ Court.

The 28-year-old was ordered to undergo six months of treatment for his drug addiction.

He was put under supervision for six months.

Magistrates made no order for costs or compensation.
