Vehicle crime spree hits Hayling Island

DETECTIVES have released this e-fit image of a suspect they want to question after a would-be robber tried to steal a man’s mobile phone.

As reported in The News, a 32-year-old man was walking to catch a bus when he was approached by the attacker in an alley between Samson Close and St Nicholas Avenue in Gosport.

The victim managed to fight off the other man, who tried to grab his mobile phone.

The attacker then ran off empty-handed towards Samson Close.

It happened at 7.20am on May 28.

The victim was left with minor bruising to his face.

The offender is described as white, around 5ft 10ins tall, with a thin, drawn face and a pointed chin.

He had dark brown hair with a fringe across his forehead. The man was skinny and very pale, with grey tracksuit bottoms and a blue T-shirt.
