THE sentencing of a 12-year-old for more than 20 offences has been delayed.

The youth, from Portsmouth, was due to be sentenced yesterday at Fareham Youth Court.

He pleaded guilty to 22 offences, all carried out in Portsmouth and Southsea between May 9 and July 4, at an earlier hearing.

The crimes by the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, covered a range of offences, from thefts to assault, racially-aggravated offences, and two sexual assaults.

Extra time has been allowed by the courts for the completion of a psychiatric report.

No new date has been set so far for the sentencing.

The child is now living outside the area where he committed his crimes and is under the care of the local authority.
