A MAN was assaulted and left with a broken jaw following an assault in Fareham.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident last Sunday.

It happened between 3am and 3.45am near the Esso garage in Gosport Road.

A 19-year-old man was walking with two others when they were approached by a group of at least three men. The victim was then assaulted resulting in a broken jaw.

Detective Constable Sarah Ridler said: ‘This is not a common occurrence in the area.

‘The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning and I’d like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything.

‘It is believed that a party was taking place nearby. If you were leaving the party in the early hours of Sunday morning and have any information then you should contact the police.’
