PEOPLE are being warned of a doorstep scam after a rogue trader was reported offering new windows at a discounted rate.

The salesman claims his company is doing work for Fareham Borough Council and is offering private residents their service at a discounted rate 65 per cent off.

If you have someone who fits this description knocking on your door, please do not part with any money.

A resident in Newtown, Portchester, reported the scam after opening her door to a man claiming to be from a company called Safer Windows UK.

Executive member for policy and resources Sean Woodward said: ‘The council does not work with Safer Windows UK and have never heard of such company.

‘If you have someone who fits this description knocking on your door, please do not part with any money.

‘Instead report them to the National Action Fraud by ringing 0300 123 2040.’
