A MAN who punched a care worker has been made to pay compensation.

Ross Jessey, who has lived at Quayside care home in Gosport Road, Fareham, since December 2012, punched the worker after an argument erupted when he wanted to go back to his room on Thursday, June 4.

The case was brought to court as the home has a ‘zero tolerance’ approach to violence on its staff.

The court heard that Jessey, 55, had been living in care since he was a child due to learning disabilities and personality disorders and he was ‘deeply remorseful’ of his actions.

He pleaded guilty to assault by beating and was ordered to pay £50 to the worker, plus £175 court costs.
