THE reign of a father and son who brought misery to dozens of motorists by plundering their vehicles has ended with the dad being jailed.

Frederick King and his son Daniel targeted cars in beauty spots making up to £3,500 in cash and valuables over a 10-month period.

They also took bank cards and would withdraw cash just minutes later.

The Southampton pair were eventually caught at Denmead Golf Course where police pounced on King senior, 44, and King junior, 21.

They appeared at Southampton Crown Court where the father was jailed for six years and his son received a 12-month suspended sentence coupled with 200 hours of unpaid work and a three-month curfew.

Judge Gary Burrell said of King senior, ‘You are an incorrigible criminal.

‘A significant aggravating factor is that you involved your son, a man with limited intelligence – an appalling thing to do.’
