A SAILOR has been found guilty of sexual assaulting a woman who was asleep.

Leading Seaman Claire Cocker had denied two charges of assault by penetration contrary to the Sexual Offences Act but was found guilty at a court martial in Portsmouth after a trial.

Cocker, 28, assaulted her sleeping victim after getting into bed with her at the navy base HMS Collingwood, in Fareham, earlier this year.

The case has been adjourned until October 9 for sentencing at the military court.
