POLICE are investigating claims a 13-year-old young girl was assaulted in a park.

The teenager was in Florence Park, Chichester at 9pm on Tuesday when she said she was approached by a man near the public toilets who grabbed her arm and briefly spoke to her before she ran away from him.

Sergeant Alan Fenn, from Chichester police, said: ‘This was a distressing experience for the young girl and fortunately she did not come to any further harm.

‘It appears to be an isolated incident but officers are continuing with house-to-house enquiries and have been patrolling the park.’

The suspect is described as tall and was wearing a dark hoody, white trainers and spoke with a local accent.
