A five-year-old girl watched in terror as her dad was attacked in a park.

Police today revealed that the shocking assault happened in Jubilee Park in Milton Road, Waterlooville, between 9.30 and 10am yesterday.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: ‘The 28-year-old man was walking with his five-year-old daughter when he was approached by a man who punched and kicked him. The attack appears to be unprovoked.

‘The man sustained swelling to his head and a grazed elbow as a result of the incident.’

Police say the attacker is described as white, in his mid 20s, about 6ft 1ins tall and of fat build.

He was wearing light blue jeans, a jumper with a motif on the front and a brown peaked cap.

PC Rob Kilgallon said: ‘This is an isolated incident. There is the possibility that there may have been numerous dog walkers using Jubilee Park at the time it occurred. Please contact us if you have any information.’

He asked anyone who witnessed the incident, or can help identify the offender should to contact him at Waterlooville police station on 101 or alternatively to call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
