A NINE-year-old girl was asked to get into a van by a man while she was walking alone in Havant.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident on Allbrook Court between 5.15pm and 5.45pm yesterday.

A man parked up in a white van on Allbrook Court started talking to the young girl and then asked her to get into his van.

The girl ran away and told her parents.

The man is described as white, in his 50s with grey hair. He is muscular with tattoos on both arms and was wearing dirty blue, baggy jeans and a blue-striped T-shirt with a swirly pattern on it.

A police spokeswoman said: ‘Please remind children of stranger danger.

‘Remain vigilant, be alert but not alarmed and report anything suspicious to 101 or 999 appropriately.’
