AN attacker who pleaded guilty to a charge of racially-aggravated assault has been spared jail.

Louis Thorpe admitted committing the ‘sustained attack’ on his victim in Gosport on March 18.

The 31-year-old, from South Street, Gosport, was sentenced to four months in jail suspended for a year by Fareham magistrates.

Thorpe was put under supervision for 12 months.

And he was given a community order stating that he must carry out 300 hours of unpaid work under supervision in the next year.

Thorpe must also pay £55 in compensation to his victim.

And he was ordered to pay £85 in court costs.
