MAGISTRATES have fined a man for producing cannabis.

Benjamin Chidgey pleaded guilty to producing the class B drug in Gosport on December 19.

The 28-year-old, from Inverness Road, Gosport, was fined £100 by Fareham magistrates.

Chidgey was ordered to pay £15 to a fund for crime victims and £85 in court costs.

He also pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing 6oz (175g) of cannabis in Portsmouth on December 12.

However magistrates imposed no separate penalty.

An order was made for the drugs to be forfeited and destroyed under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
