MOTORIST Martin Ray was caught behind the wheel while more than twice the legal alcohol limit.

Ray pleaded guilty to driving a BMW in Brockhurst Road, Gosport, after drinking too much alcohol.

A test revealed the 47-year-old’s breath contained 85 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres – more than twice the legal limit of 35mg.

Ray, from Monckton Road, Gosport, was fined £100 and told to pay £100 in court costs by Fareham magistrates.

He must also pay £15 to a fund for crime victims.

Ray was banned from getting behind the wheel for 20 months.

The driving ban could be reduced by five months.

Ray must pay up to £250 to complete a government -approved driving course.
