LETTING agent Kristabelle Charman escaped a driving ban after being caught driving at 96mph along the A27.

The 33-year-old, of Ashburton Road, Gosport, was driving to her job as branch manager at Leaders in Northgate, Chichester, when police caught her driving at 26mph above the speed limit.

Appearing at Worthing Magistrates’ Court, Charman pleaded exceptional hardship.

Defending Charman, Louise Minns-Davies said the letting agent faced losing her job if she lost her driving licence.

She said: ‘Her licence is vital to her in her place of employment as she’s travelling to meet clients all the time.’

The solicitor added that Charman and her partner have large monthly mortgage payments and could lose their home if she was to lose her job.

Charman was given five penalty points.

The points were added on her licence from two previous speeding offences – giving her 11 points, just under the 12 points that would result in a driving ban. Charman must pay a £253 fine.
