A Gosport man was arrested after a woman was spotted walking along the hard shoulder of the M27 late at night.

Police are trying to trace drivers who saw the 29-year-old woman walking alone on the M27 between 11pm and 11.30pm between junction two and three on Saturday, April 18. She is believed to have been involved in an argument shortly beforehand.

Officers said that a 34-year-old man from Gosport has been arrested in connection with this incident and was released on bail until June 3, pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Kirsty Burridge said: ‘Did you see a woman having an altercation with a man? Or did you see a black Alfa Romeo which was being driven in an unusual manner along the M27?’

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Con Burridge at the Western Investigation Team on 101 or call the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
