AN 82-year-old man was caught driving while almost twice the legal alcohol limit.

David Barrie, from Woodside, Gosport, admitted driving a Suzuki Ignis in Fareham Road, Gosport, after drinking too much on April 5.

A test revealed his breath contained 74 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

He was fined £125, and told to pay £15 into a fund for victims of crime and £85 court costs at Fareham Magistrates’ Court.

Barrie was also banned from driving for 18 months.
