POLICE are searching for a man who sexually assaulted a woman while she was picking blackberries in a copse.

The 40-year-old victim was in Cawter’s Copse in Rowner, Gosport, at 7pm on Wednesday.

A man came up from behind and grabbed the collar of her shirt before pulling her to the ground and indecently assaulting her.

She managed to get free and leave the area, heading towards Little Woodhams Lane.

The suspect left in the opposite direction.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the man to come forward.

Detective Constable Barbara Hamilton said: ‘This incident left the victim understandably shaken. We are keen to track down the man as quickly as we can.

‘This area is regularly used by dog walkers and blackberry pickers and there were other people around at the time of the incident.’

The victim was unharmed except for slight bruising to her back.

The suspect is described as white, around 6ft tall with short, dark brown hair.

He is muscular and in his late 20s to early 30s. The man was clean shaven and wore dark grey tracksuit bottoms and dark blue hooded top with drawstrings on the hood. The top had NY written on the front in white.
