A MAN caught shoplifting while subject to a suspended sentence has been sen to prison.

Kieran Darren Maynard, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to stealing two packs of cider from a Tesco store in Gosport.

The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to committing the theft while he was subject to a 12-week sentence suspended for a year for offences of assaulting a man and a police officer in the execution of his duty.

Maynard was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison by Portsmouth magistrates.
