A BURGLAR who admitted stealing more than £1,000 of charity cash and goods from a pub has been spared jail.

Ricky Hobbins, 26, stole two charity pots belonging to Macmillan Cancer Support and change from other charity collections worth £1,040 from the Clarence Tavern in Mumby Road, Gosport.

Hobbins, of Trinity Green, Gosport, also fled with a Dell laptop, Wii games console, an electric darts scoreboard, a game, a Freeview TV box and alcohol.

He was given a 12-week suspended sentence, put under supervision for a year and told to pay £500 compensation by Fareham magistrates.
