QUESTIONS have been asked why the government has axed dozens of military police roles in the Royal Navy.

Since David Cameron’s Tory administration took over, navy police figures have dropped 12 per cent, from 340 to 300.

Similarly, RAF police have been slashed by 340 from 1,480 to 1,140, with Royal Military Police also facing cuts of 80 personnel.

Armed forces minister Penny Mordaunt stood by the cuts, saying the tasks allocated were there ‘for operational reasons’ adding: ‘That is how we allocate not only the liability of each of our services, but the trades that sit within them.’
