BURGLARS stole up to £800 after smashing their way into a pub’s fruit machines.

The people living above The Spotted Cow, in London Road, Cowplain, were woken at 3.20am on Monday to the sound of hammer blows on the two machines.

Before they were disturbed by the occupants the thieves managed to grab between £400 and £800.

The offenders are described as men of average build, wearing dark baseball caps and balaclavas, light coloured trousers and trainers.

One of the men was wearing a light coloured jumper and carried a bag.

The other was wearing a light-coloured jacket.
