A WOMAN has admitted having a hammer in public.

Sophie Swales pleaded guilty to having an offensive weapon in Seymour Close, Buckland, Portsmouth.

The 29-year-old, of Buckingham Green, Buckland, committed the offence on August 16.

Portsmouth magistrates imposed a community order with up to 20 days of rehabilitation activities.

She must pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs. Swales admitted breaching a conditional discharge for theft but no action was taken.
