THE number of burglaries at homes across the area has dropped by 28 per cent, according to national crime figures.
The Office for National Statistics has published a report on its crime statistics for last year.
The report revealed there were 3,855 burglaries at homes in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight last year, 28 per cent fewer than in 2011.
This was the biggest drop in the number of burglaries in the country.
Total crime in the area was down by 16 per cent to 111,665 offences in 2012.
