MORE than 60 people were banned from driving after being caught getting behind the wheel while over the limit.

In the first two weeks of Operation Holly – which ran between December 1 and 14 – 66 people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight were banned from driving.

A further 12 remain on bail, 14 are still going through the courts and another 15 were released by police without charge.

Chief Superintendent Chris Brown, head of the roads policing unit, said: ‘Every drink-driver we’ve arrested and helped to convict is one more dangerous driver taken off our roads.

‘I’d like to thank everyone who contacted us with information. Doing so could well have helped save a life.’
