A helicopter crew and police dogs are assisting in the hunt for a hillwalker from Hampshire missing in the Highlands in Scotland.

Edward Davies planned to go for a hike in Glencoe, Lochaber, on Sunday and has not been heard from since.

Rescue teams have been scouring the Sgurr na h-Ulaidh mountain area since concern was raised for the missing 39-year-old on Wednesday.

Police Scotland have appealed for help from the public in tracing Mr Davies, whose white Toyota Aygo car was parked near the Glencoe visitor centre.

Mr Davies is described as white, 5ft 11in, slim, and has cropped dark brown hair which is longer on top. He is likely to be wearing a blue waterproof jacket.

A police statement said: “Searches by Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team took place last night with further searches under way in the area today with additional resources, including Oban Mountain Rescue Team, police officers, dogs and UK Coastguard helicopter.

“Police would urge anyone who saw a man matching Edward’s description in the Glencoe area on or since Sunday to make contact via 101.”
