THIEF Thomas Ovenden has been spared jail.

Ovenden pleaded guilty to stealing £62 worth of meat from the Co-op in Middle Park Way, Havant, on March 7.

The 22-year-old, who lives in Middle Park Way, Havant, was sentenced to 28 days in jail suspended for a year by Portsmouth magistrates.

He was also put under supervision for a year.
