THIEF Patrick McCormack has been spared jail.

The 35-year-old, of Billy Lawn Avenue, Havant, admitted stealing more than £83 worth of goods from a Havant Co-op and more than £284 of T-shirts from Sports Direct in the town.

He pleaded guilty to attempting to steal two jackets and three pairs of jeans worth £184 from Next in Havant.

The crimes were committed on June 22.

McCormack was sentenced to 18 weeks in jail suspended for a year.

He was ordered to pay £80 to a fund for victims of crime by Portsmouth magistrates.
